How do I record my Bass Guitar through my Computer using VST Plugins?

I downloaded a Bass VST Plugin and VSTHost and now I guess I just get a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter and just record using that?

First you install Cakewalk or what ever recording software you choose.
Then you install the VstPlugins.
Then you instal a VST-DX Adapter such as
FXpansion VST-DX Adapter v3.015 or Cakewalk VST Adapter 4.3
Run the vst adapter so your recording software will load the VstPlugins.
Then set your recorder options to Line in or Mic.
Then get a 1/8″ pin jack to a 1/4″ guitar cord adapter to interface the Bass or whatever else to the PC and then Launch your recording software and you’re good to go!
