How can i register my ipod shuffle?

I recently bought a 1G Ipod Shuffle and when i plug it in, it asks me if i want to register it. I click yes then the screen just has the words Itunes Store at the top. I’ve already tried registering my product on the itunes website, it did not work. HELP ME PLEASE!
P.S. : I also want the status screen, for the Ipod to show up

First, I need to know if it’s new or been used.

If it’s new then this is what you do. Make sure that you have the USB and you Ipod Suffle. Next, Plug in you Ipod suffle to your computer. After you have done that, then you should open up itunes. Where it is on the left side. Look down and it should say Ipod. You can put your name in it if you want. Just click rename. After that just add songs or videos. Anyways, it should of already been registered once you had of plugged in your ipod shuffle.

Tip: You do not have to register on Itunes to get music. Just open up all of your saved music in your computer and onto your itunes library and drag the music where it says “your Ipod”.
